IR2 Venus dayside image by IR2 at 2.02-µm wavelength
A 2.02-µm dayside image of Venus captured by IR2 (2-µm camera) on May 6, 2016 at 16:08. By utilizing the absorption of carbon dioxide, the main substance in Venus' atmosphere, we can measure the height of clouds. In addition to identifying that the cloud tops are lower around the poles, this also allows for seeing that numerous complex cloud formations exist around the Equator. Images have been processed to allow better visibility of fine patterns. © PLANET-C Project Team
