IR2 Venus nightside image by IR2 with 2.26-µm filter
A 2.26-µm nightside image of Venus captured by IR2 (2-µm camera) on April 26, 2016 at 07:03 UTC. The cloud density is depicted as silhouettes owing to the backlighting produced by thermal radiation from the atmosphere near the surface. Here you can see that the internals of the cloud layer contain a complex and tempestuous atmospheric movement. Images have been processed to improve visibility of night surface.
