Results of Venus Orbit Insertion of the Venus Climate Orbiter AKATSUKI
The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has announced the successful of Venus Orbit Insertion of the Venus Climate Orbiter AKATSUKI. Through measurements and calculations of the orbit of the spacecraft after the maneuver using the reaction control system (RCS) thrusters, it is found that AKATSUKI is tracing an elliptical orbit around Venus, reaching an altitude of about 400 km at the pericenter and about 440,000km at the apocenter with a period of about 13 days and 14 hours.
The status of the spacecraft is currently normal.
