The mystery of high temperature at Venus' poles: what ties Earth and Venus? Feb 2, 2016

The upper atmosphere in the polar regions of Venus has been detected to have an unusual temperature distribution, with a warm region surrounded by a cold region. A large-scale simulation of Venusian climate has allowed us to succeed in elucidating what causes this unusual temperature distribution.

Please see Press release of "Theoretical Elucidation of High-temperature Formation/Sustenance Mechanism in Venus Polar Region" at JAXA's web site.
